What is a
Professional fraternities are co-ed organizations whose primary purpose is to promote the interests of a particular profession and provide a network of opportunities for students interested in that specific field.
How are professional
As stated above, professional fraternities exist to give opportunities to students of a specific profession/field of study, while social fraternities and sororities exist to provide students with a strong social bond. This is not to say that professional fraternities do not have social aspects, as you still have ample opportunity to make lasting friendships and attend bonding activities!
One of the main differences between the two is that since professional fraternities do not involve living in a house, we are not segregated by gender. People are often confused by the term professional "fraternity", however all genders are admitted! |
What are our
We require all of our members to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
What does it cost to
Initial membership fees are $125.00 and are a one time payment for your 4 years at UOP! Additional dues are determined democratically by the chapter, so you will have a say in how much the dues are each semester!
Why does it cost
Phi Alpha Delta is a national organization and just like all other organizations, it costs money to process and initiate new members. The $125.00 goes to not only processing your application as a new member, but providing the means necessary for PAD to run at a national level and continuing to provide us with opportunities. Chapter dues account for all other associated costs it takes to run fun and professional events at the chapter level, hence why it is determined democratically by the members who have the power to decide where they want their funds to be allocated.
